Our Commitment to Privacy:
Your privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. To make this notice easy to find, we make it available on our home page and at every point where personally identifiable information may be requested.
The Information We Collect:
1040form.com collects a variety of information at our web site. Some of this is standard information that is sent from both your browser and your Internet Service Provider, or ISP. This information does not include any data that can be considered personal identifiers (i.e. your name or address), but rather information that our site needs in order to display the page accurately on your browser. This includes, but is not limited to your browser (i.e. Netscape or Internet Explorer), the version of the browser, and your ISP address so our server knows where to send the page.
1040form.com also provides products and services for our users. In order to provide these services, some personally identifiable information needs to be collected. The information collected depends upon the service requested. The survey and 1040form.com club membership are two areas where personally identifiable information is collected. The survey is designed to help us understand our customers better and tailor the site to best suit their needs. All information entered is optional and voluntary. The use of all collected information is covered below in the section titled The Way We Use Information. Users may contact us at any time if they wish to have any personally identifiable information changed or removed. To do so, please see the section titled How You Can Access and/or Correct Your Information.
The 1040form.com members area collects personally identifiable information as well. This is needed to provide the services to the members. The use of the personally identifiable information is covered in the section titled The Way We Use Information. The only required fields are the ones necessary to verify the identification of the member in order to provide the benefits, and the means by which to contact them. Members can opt out of any or all of the services, or have their personally identifiable information changed or removed by simply contacting us. To do so, please see the section titled The Way We Use Information
1040form.com will also be collecting personally identifiable information in order to provide tax preparation services. This data will include, but is not limited to: names, addresses, Social Security Numbers, income and expense records, as well as information about dependents. The use of this personally identifiable information is necessary for the successful completion of an individual tax return. This information is required in order to provide the services requested by our clients. Please see The Way We Use Information.
The Way We Use Information:
As a CPA firm, we are required to maintain client confidentiality, and do not use any personal identifiable information in any way other than to provide the specific product or service requested. At times, the personal identifiable information will be used to make certain offers available to our clients that we feel may be helpful or useful to them, but in no way will this information be made available to any third parties, except in the process of providing the specific product or service requested. Users may opt out of any offer, or remove themselves from any marketing programs by contacting us, see How You Can Access and/or Correct Your Information.
At times, certain non-identifying information will be collected within order forms, registration, survey forms, or automatically logged by the site. This information will be used to better design our web site and to share with advertisers. For example, we may tell an advertiser that X number of individuals visited a certain area on our web site, or that Y number of men and Z number of women filled out our registration form, but we would not disclose anything that could be used to identify those individuals.
Our Commitment to Data Security:
To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.
Full tape backups of our system are performed each night and kept in a fireproof location to prevent loss of your data.
We have also made all employees aware of our data security measures.
We use SSL encryption technology to ensure that personally identifiable data collected cannot be viewed by any parties other than those intended. Social security numbers and passwords will be used to enter secured areas of the site for entry of personally identifiable information for the sole purpose of tax return preparation and additional related services.
SSL encryption is also used on all order forms and payment forms within the site. This ensures that all personally identifiable data (including credit card data) will not be accessed by third parties.
Our Commitment to Children's Privacy:
Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important. Many times, it is necessary to collect personally identifiable information concerning children in order to correctly prepare an individual income tax return. Examples of this information would be the name, social security number, date of birth, or income of the children. We never directly collect or maintain information at our web site from those we actually know are under 13. Typically, this information would come from the guardian(s) of the child. This personally identifiable information is not shared with any outside parties, and is only used in the act of tax return preparation. No part of our web site is structured to attract anyone under 13. 1040FORM.com also participates in the Internet Content Rating Association program.
How You Can Access and/or Correct Your Information:
In order to better safeguard your information, identification numbers and passwords will be used to enter a secured area of the site. In this area, you will be able to correct any information that is inaccurate. This area can be found in The Tax Return Preparation area.
You can also correct factual errors in your personally identifiable information by sending us a request that shows error. To protect your privacy and security, we will also take reasonable steps to verify your identity before making corrections.
